Little Things Mean a Lot--We Get a New Sweeper

When Boswell first opened, Sarah introduced me our sweeper. I don't remember its name (it had one), but Sarah in particular was quite fond of a little carpet sweeping. Nothing worked better to pick up the salt after a snowfall.

I guess it was really an amazing little sweeper, as one day it disappeared.

And I didn't go out and buy another. And I broke two vacuum cleaners.

I tend to get overwhelmed with stuff and put it off. You should see my to-do list. But finally I went over to the National Ace Hardware on Howell (It's an Ace, which I think is a buying coop, not a franchise, and thus qualifies as an independent. They are like Indie Bound taken to the next level.)

I might have bought one sooner, but I always looked in the wrong place. I thought they would be displayed like a vacuum cleaner, but the handle comes apart and it is packed into a box. They might have them at Downer Hardware too, but was too passive to ask. The folks there will be shocked, as I ask a lot.

I've been spending a lot of quality time with our new sweeper. Every bookstore should have one of these. Here's a picture of Anne doing the honors.

Even if I didn't know you were located in a northern clime, your phrase "picked up the salt after a snowfall" would have tipped me off.

The old carpet sweeper was named "My Precious".
