Happy Labor Day*. We're open from 10 am to 5 pm with a small but friendly staff (including me, of course). Cafe Hollander has Labor Day brunch until 3 pm. Starbucks and the Downer Theatre are also open. I'm not sure of the rest, but I'll likely take a walk down the block for an update. (Update from Amie! The Original Pancake House and Sendiks are both open.)
Last year we rescheduled the in-store lit group meeting to Labor Day afternoon, but that didn't seem like a perfect solution, as several participants are involved in Labor Day activities. Instead, we'll be discussing Jonathan Evison's West of Here tomorrow, Tuesday, September 4, 7 pm. And if anyone comes prepared to read The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving, which was inadvertently listed as the selection in our printed event calendar, we can talk about that too, as I've read both, and the books' themes overlap.
Another reason for the short post? It's email newsletter day. With some luck, it will get out today. So everything is pushed back a day. Tuesday will be the week's events, and Wednesday will be the book club wrap up.
*Labor Day is a paid holiday for Boswellians, including part-timers, but folks who volunteer to work Labor Day get an additional day off during the week.
