Icing Out the Details About Our Cake Boss Event

Next Thursday, November 11th, is Cake Boss day. At Noon, we are hosting a signing for Buddy Valastro and his new book at the store. It's signing only, as he is doing a show at the Riverside that night. To put it in perspective of book fans, ticket sales, while not sold out, are higher than David Sedaris.

What do expect? How to prepare? It's a straight signing, so that should be easy, right? But it's not. For one thing, I keep buying more books. How do you balance how many books you have with how many books he'll sign with how many people come? We will currently have about 500 books, which is way, way, way more than we've sold at anything else. It's Milwaukee, it's the middle of the day, and if folks are going to the show, what are we to expect. Here's a blog piece on watching folks line up at Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken

To understand all that is Cake Boss, I watched the marathon that was running on TLC last Saturday. It included the Valastro family trip to Italy, plus a few classic episodes in Hoboken. I just want to say, those were some amazing cakes!

Because of the possible crowds, we have restrictions on this event:

Book Signing Details

* Signing will be one hour

* The line is guarranteed at 300 people--after that, we'll do our best (note, this is an update from the original post). You can get up to two books per person signed. Our line is ticketed. At least one book per person must be bought from us.

*No photos or posing at the table. People can of course take photos from the line, though. Yes, you can take pictures with our life-size cardboard cutout.

*No personalization. Buddy will sign on the title page. Yes, we're going to spend the next week flapping the books.

*Buddy can only sign books (no aprons, DVDs, t-shirts, etc). That's right, no memorabilia.

*Please have bottled water /Sharpies at the table. But fine or ultra-fine? Don't worry, we have both.

If you're going to his show at the Riverside, we'll be selling books in the lobby. Please say hi.

If you have any questions, just ask!
